Setting Off On Our Month Long trip

Since the RV is our full time home we tend to take amazing care of it on the inside, but its easy to forget that the outside needs just as much love as the inside. Before taking off for our wedding we went through our entire RV and fixed a few things that needed some care and hired someone to give the rig a wash and wax to look brand new.

Here are some of the things that we did to make our experience better:

Tires: We triple checked the tires by tightening the lug nuts and tire pressure. We also made sure that the tires were in great condition for a long trip. We had bad luck in the past with flat tires and we had ripped some of the insulation under the RV, so we made sure to stop every thousand miles or so to check the tire pressure. Luckily on this trip we didn't have any problems at all!!

Insulation: From having a few flat tires before, we had torn up some of the insulation underneath. Another full time RVer had recommended to add a sheet of metal on top of where the tires are to cover up the insulation, so that if we did get a flat it still wouldn't tear anything up. Rich added that, and it has been great.

Tank fans: We replaced all of our holding tank vents on top of the RV with the cyclone vents. They work really well and stop the odor from coming back in!

Battery: We checked our battery for fluid and to make sure they were fully charged.

Generator: In the hopes of doing a lot of boondocking on our trip, we sent our generator out to get a tune up.

We also had a couple of our fantastic fans stop working, and after doing some research online, I found out that from time to time you have to clean the connectors on top of the RV, because they get filled with crap. So Rich and I got up there and scrubbed away and cleaned the fans until they looked brand new. They've been working great every since.

With our prep work and continue care on the road, our 5295 mile trip went without any problems!!

I'll be doing a few blogs about our amazing trip, so stay tuned and happy Rving😀
