After a year of bouncing around states and traveling as much as we could in between Rich's work, we have made it back to where it all started, the beautiful state of Colorado. I have to say that as we made the trip over and made calls to the RV parks in the greater Denver area, we were shocked at how insanely busy it was compared to when we left. Every place that we called only had a couple days here and there, and some were completely booked for months. Since we were coming back for a work project, we needed to secure something more permanent, so we even reached out on craigslist for properties that were allowing RVs to park there, but no luck! There were more people asking for spaces, and no one was offering spots.
We ended up finding a couple of nights here and there until luckily a new RV park opened up, and we moved right in. Unfortunately, the RV park was waayyyyyyy to new and the owners were inexperienced in the RV life (and that's being nice!), and as you pull up, they want to set up everything for you. On top of it being in a pile of sand with no grass in sight, they had a problem with their new septic well, and so as you all can imagine the smell was awful!! As happy as we were to be back in Colorado, we were thankful when we received a call to work on a project in Iowa. We packed up the RV and headed out of that crappy park as fast as we could. After a month of being gone and with another job to get back to in Colorado, we attempted to call every RV park again (besides that horrible one), and luckily we found a place for 2 weeks with the prospect of a full time spot.
We were beyond excited! This RV park is pretty big, but luckily we got a spot on the end and it's close to everything we would need, and the best part it is only 12 minutes from Rich's work, bonus!! After two weeks we were able to get the full time spot, and we are extremely happy with this place. The laundry on site is very nice, but the best part of all is that for the first time in over a year and a half we have internet!!!! Each site has a telephone box that you can hook up a modem to and get whatever provider you want. So for the first time I am able to write my blog in an actual computer in the RV instead of using my phone; I love the small things in life that get you excited:)
As busy as Colorado is, the beauty of it is breathtaking. We have explored options of getting land to put our RV on, but the permits and regulations per county are very strict. We would love to be closer to the west side of Denver, but until a park opens up that doesn't cost an arm and a leg near the mountains, we will have to drive a bit further.
I hope everyone is staying warm during the winter months, and if you've made it south for the winter, soak up all that warmth for us! I'll be writing another blog on our second winter in the RV, so wait for it:)
Happy Rving!
